the prices you see displayed here have been determined with both buyers and myself in mind. it's important to ensure affordability while simultaneously being fair to myself as an artist who devotes time and effort to the pieces i create. with this being said, costs are influenced by minimum wage (and the time poured into commissions by extension), the quality of my artwork, and the current demand. i do what i can in order to ensure that i am making all purchases as fair and reasonable as possible.
note that prices may be subject to future change, as demand fluctuates and my art improves.
and, of course, i ask that you spend wisely while commissioning me. art is a luxury, and you shouldn't be placing yourself in tight situations by spending frivolously!
{ i. } flatcolor pieces
{ ? } "flatcolor" pieces lack shading and detail beyond simple, character-accurate coloring.
Headshot/Bustshot ꩜ $15
depiction of the character from the chest up. typically created as icons, but you can request anything at your leisure.
Halfbody ꩜ $20
~half of the character, give or take. can be depicted as half of the body heavily obscured, or simply out of frame.
Fullbody ꩜ $45
all if not most of the character, minimally obscured.
+ Simple Background ꩜ $10
small background pieces; a small portion of a scene, page decor, motif inclusion, frames, extra props, etc.
+ Scene ꩜ $15
completed scene, a fully colored canvas.
+ Scene & Decor ꩜ $20
completed scene with decorative elements framing the canvas.
{ ! } note: up to two props are permitted without any additional fee.
{ ii. } rendered pieces
{ ? } shaded and detailed. influenced by both texture and light sources.

{ iii. } discounts & fees
{ ? } these either increase or lower the cost depending on certain criteria. do not apply to customs.
Simple Character Discount
characters with particularly simple designs that are quite quick and easy to recreate will receive $15 off of any piece that exceeds $30. characters with incredibly simple shapes and very few colors are prime candidates, for example.
Complex Character Fee
characters with particularly complex designs that may take a greater deal of time or effort to recreate will require an extra payment of $10. characters qualify as complex if they feature large designs, elaborate accessories or patterning, or a very large range of colors within their palette. if a character has a reference that may be difficult to work off of, they will also likely require this fee.
Returning Discount
those who commission me more than once will receive a $10 discount off of any piece that exceeds $15! your support means the world! returning commissioners also have a chance to receive extra goodies thrown in with their purchases as thanks. this discount cannot be used at the same time as a simple character discount unless the price exceeds $45.
{ iv. } customs
{ ? } designs created uniquely for the buyer to fit their ideas and tastes.
Bustshot ꩜ $30
a character designed from the chest up. character with wings will have them designed as well.
Mini Custom ꩜ $65
a miniature fullbody design, the same size as a full body icon.
Fullbody ꩜ $80
a character designed fully.
Reference Sheet ꩜ $130
comes will a fullbody and up to three additions of choice, as well as optional color displays/descriptive text/flags. reference sheet layout and design is entirely up to the buyer.
available additions consist of headshots, halfbodys, additional fullbodys, chibis, decor, memorabilia, mini scenes, etc. only one addition may be rendered, and choosing more than 3 will tack the typical price of each onto the cost for every extra you add.

Lint Fellow ꩜ $5
tiny drawing for a tiny fellow. a bite-sized drawing of your character, flatcolored and simplified!
Banner ꩜ $55
features a condensed, fully rendered character with miscellaneous decor and a simple solid color background. banner dimensions are up to the commissioner. character size depends on design and canvas, but the price will not change regardless.
Chibi ꩜ $30
chibi-styled fullbody, typically with minimal rendering and exaggerated features.
Fullbody Icon ꩜ $40
flatcolored fullbody condensed and fit into a square icon. canvas can be stretched to be less limiting if desired.
{ ! } note: the following options are not split payments, and are entirely upfront.
Surprise Me ꩜ $20
pay the set price, and receive something entirely random in return featuring a character of your choice. you hand over the character, and i hand back a surprise! the artwork you receive will never fall beneath the value of what you pay.
PWYW
pay what you want. this is specific to requests that differ from anything else that i offer, such as requesting something just a bit out there formatting/style wise. just bear in mind that severe lowballs will be turned down, and, of course, there are limits to what i can do.
{ ? } how to inquire?
buyers may contact me and present their requests through my linked tumblr and toyhouse accounts, but i would prefer discord as a primary method of communication. shoot me a message @mothcada ! please ensure, regardless of method, that your intention to commission me is stated first and foremost within your dm. i turn down and/or ignore mysterious messages otherwise.
in order to commission my work, you must read my tos and dni from top to bottom. it is important that you do so in order to avoid miscommunication during the process.
for now, i only take payment through paypal.

as is the case with all artists, my artstyle may compliment certain characters better than others.
